| ...because I've got stuff to watch on the DVR. (Yes, I know how lame that sounds).
I went shopping with my dad today. I got a snazzy new microphone with which to record my ukulele songs and my stuff for the Star Trek musical. I also got this box set of Academy Award Best Picture winners including It Happened One Night, which I LOVE.
I'm totes behind on holiday cards, so they probably won't be sent until after Christmas. I'm just a lazy bum, really.
Okay, Tabatha's Salon Takeover time.
I hope everyone is having a good week! (And HOLY SHIT, IT'S ALMOST CHRISTMAS!)
PS Congrats to horcrionebay for getting into college! And, because I don't think I mentioned this, my sister got into her top choice school!

| Today I got a book I put on hold months ago, and had, in fact, forgotten that I'd put on hold. It's titled Lost in Austen by Emma Campbell Webster and is a "Create-Your-Own-Adventure"-style Jane Austen book.
My original response to this? FUCK YEAH.
My response to this after several hours of experiencing my very own Jane Austen adventure? Bu - whut?!
( I love me some feminism, but WHUT?! ) | comments: 9 comments or Leave a comment |
| ...and I can't believe it's almost Christmas!
I haven't really started on the cards yet, so they're probably not getting sent out until after Christmas. They'll just be general holiday cards, I guess. (Some of them already were!)
I watched Coraline with my dad this afternoon, which was very well done but really different from the book, which I think I REALLY noticed because I JUST read it, but still.
Okay, I am going to take a LONG hot bath and will my headache away.
Also, just ONCE, I'd like to be watching a Food Network Challenge where Bronwen wins. She's my favorite, and her cakes are consistently AMAZING. | comments: 6 comments or Leave a comment |
| ...which is the BEST CHRISTMAS MOVIE EVER, and now my little sister and I are going to go watch tonight's Kendra.
Also, RIP Brittany Murphy.
The cards are going to be constructed tomorrow, and I really need to finish writing all these fics. Most of the pairings people wanted are pairings I've never written (and a handful that I don't even ship), so it's going to be a bit of a challenge. Once I'm sure everyone has gotten their cards, I'm going to post them here.
Also, my sister has stolen my ukulele, and I want to kill her. | comments: 4 comments or Leave a comment |
| ...but I got pretty much nothing done. I went to the bookstore and bought Extras, even though I haven't finished Specials yet.
I'm re-watching Dollhouse right now, because it was SO awesome.
I think I'm going to work on my Snail Mail fics while I watch, so please, if you haven't, post your address and/or fic requests here.
I've already got one done. But it's only five words long, and it's for someone who has something else coming to them, because I know them IRL. | comments: 1 comment or Leave a comment |
| I am at home, feeling sleepy, slightly crabby, and yet happy to be at home with a bunch of library books and my lappy. Some days, you just need to be home and take a deep breath.
Anyways, to relieve myself of the crappy mood, and because I've told myself I ought to get into the practice of reading and critiquing more fiction books because this will no doubt improve my own writing, I give you a book review. I'm not going to post this over at bookfails because I think two people have already reviewed it. Nonetheless, for those of you who aren't in bookfails and who read a lot - a review of Audrey Niffenegger's Her Fearful Symmetry.
( There will be numerous spoilers under the cut, but I'm pretty sure you don't want to read this book anyway. )
TL;DR - if that's love and problem solving, then fuck it, I'm becoming a hermit. | comments: 8 comments or Leave a comment |
| ...besides watching my dogs, marathoning Will and Grace, and watching Dollhouse. (And, in re: Dollhouse, I know I say this every week but HOLY SHIT).
I got a card from Raven today. It was adorable. Thanks, bb. I really need to get onto making my cards, but I've been getting distracted by all things DVR. | comments: 1 comment or Leave a comment |
| ...for I have an important announcement.
My Jersey Shore Nickname is The Rack, and I expect that to be what you call me from this point on, because I totes earned it.
That is all. Thank you for your time. | comments: 5 comments or Leave a comment |
| Stolen from eviinsanemonkey, because hey, I like character memes. :D

| ...with the stuff I forgot to mention in my last entry.
I, as I had planned, dug my guitar out of the basement today, because I am/was hoping to start playing again. It felt SO weird. I haven't played it in about three years, so that's one part of it. It's a relatively small guitar, but, compared to my tiny ass soprano uke, it was HUGE. Plus, my fingers hurt from the metal strings, and I have to use a PICK! It's so weird, and, did I mention, BIG. The first few frets are twice the size of one of Kaylee's frets. It just has such a different feel to it. It also REALLY needs new strings.
As you know, I'm getting a new ukulele for Christmas, and I'm having a really hard time deciding what to name it.
Here are my options: Liz Lemon: Because of my love of all things Tina Fey, but "Liz Lemon the ukulele" doesn't really have the best ring to it. Penelope: After the main character of my NaNoWriMo novel (and The Big Bang Theory and Dr. Horrible) Daphne: For no real reason, but one of my friends suggested it.
Anyway, I'm inserting a poll here, but, please note, that I will probably go with whatever the hell I want in the end. I just want to get a feel for what you guys think. Poll #1500087 Nameless the Ukulele
Open to: All, detailed results viewable to: All, participants: 12 What should I name my new ukulele?
As part of my "it's break, so I can do some pleasure reading" celebration, I have decided to forgo The Lost Symbol and a pile of Kathy Reichs novels for the sake of reading novelizations of Buffy the Vampire Slayer episodes. I really wish I was kidding, but I'm taking this pleasure reading thing seriously.
I also watched Sarah Silverman: Jesus is Magic this afternoon. My dad hated it; I loved it.
EDIT: LiveJournal really hates line breaks today for some reason. | comments: 3 comments or Leave a comment |
| ...how much this whole "LJ coupon" thing pisses me off, because I have things to do, but still, WTF LiveJournal? I depend on that Give More promotion.
Anyway, today was good. I watched Sunshine Cleaning with the parentals, and we got some good movies at the video store (including THE WACKNESS!)
However, the most exciting thing (because I do find shit like this exciting) is that the pics of my TVD collection are now online! They are also...
( behind the cut )
And, if you haven't posted your address, do it, because I'm starting the cards tomorrow! POST YOUR ADDRESS HERE.
Okay, I need to go finish my AI Fic Exchange fic...that was due last night. | comments: Leave a comment |
